Impossible Happiness: No arms, no legs… no problem?
By Chris Cade on Feb 17, 2010 in Spiritual Development
“I was eight years old, and I did want to end my life. I felt hopeless. Broken. Alone. It’s like it was pointless. There was no point to my life.”

That quote is from Nick Vujicic – a man with no arms and no legs. More importantly than what he doesn’t have though, I’m interested in the thing he seems to have that eludes many of us: long term happiness.
With that in mind, let’s consider this: If a eight year old boy who wanted to die – because he had no arms and no legs – could find happiness, is it possible that we could as well? If so, what would it take?
I thought long and hard about what I would write to you today. How could I begin to even answer that question? It would take pages, perhaps even a book or series of books. Then I realized… some questions are better answered in a different way. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so what might a video be worth?
So today I have two videos for you that I really want you to take the time to watch. I am sure you will be touched by them, just as I have been. The first is an incredibly inspiring 5-minute video of Nick sharing a bit about his life, as well as showing off a few things he can do.

Consider yourself warned, though: if you’re sensitive like I am then it may just bring tears to your eyes.
And after watching that video, ask yourself… if Nick is capable of that, and he can be happy, what are you capable of? Is happiness possible for you? What about for people you know… for everybody?
Now, the cool thing is Nick was also an actor in an incredibly short spiritual movie. In fact, when you watch the movie you’ll see that he IS the inspiration for the movie, the main star, and again, a reminder of what is possible for each and every one of us.
Nick truly is an inspiration to me, and I’m sure after you watch the above two videos you’ll see why I watch his videos time and time again. He inspires me to be more than I believe myself to be capable of, and he reminds me that even on my most difficult days, happiness is possible for each and every single one of us.
And just in case you missed it…
On Monday I shared with you some of my thoughts about what keep us from being happy, and I also recommended you watch Natalie Ledwell’s video for 4 specific steps you can use to make significant changes towards living the life of your dreams. In case you missed the link to the video here it is again:
